Slavic and East European Collection at Yale

Beginning in the late 1800's, Yale University Library was among the first in America to collect Slavic materials systematically. With over 800,000 volumes concerning Central and Eastern Europe, as well as the successor states of the former Soviet Union, the Slavic and East European Collection is one of the five largest Slavic collections in the United States. The collection acquires about 13,000 titles in the vernacular languages annually.

The Slavic Reading Room houses a reference collection of dictionaries, encyclopedias, lexicons, complete works of the region's most noted authors, as well as the originals of the miniature books featured by this digital library.
