About the Slavic Miniature Books digital library

Slavic Miniature Books is a digital collection with the mission to provide a rich, browsable, and searchable visual representation of the miniature books held at the Slavic and East European Collection (SEEC) of Yale University Libraries.

The sources for digital materials originate from SEEC’s non-circulating collection, at present featuring close to one hundred items held in the Slavic Reading Room at Sterling Library. SEEC is a humanities and social sciences collection with a mission to support study and research of history, culture, arts, literature, sociology, politics and economics within Slavic spheres of influence. 

This Digital Library serves to supplement the closed physical collection by bringing in virtual visitors, who may access the collection online to enjoy the visual experience of miniatures as artifacts. Our miniature collections feature popular and classical Russian and East European authors’ works in this unique format.
